the past 18 years. The leading brands in the market are
KYMCO, YAMAHA and SYM. 2017 will be the second
year of implementing the replacement policy, and the
industry expects less positive results than that in 2016.
However, it is estimated that the sales will be nearly 800
thousand units.
The most popular categories in Taiwan motorcycle
market are 125cc and 100-115cc scooters. The one
that everyone has been talking about is heavy motor-
bike, it shows an increasing trend in sales as the total
was around 20 thousand units last year and it is
expected to sell 25 thousand units in 2017. 250-300cc
motorbikes have been trend-setting worldwide as the
entry-level heavy motorbikes (250-550cc). The sales of
electric scooters rose above 10 thousand units in 2015
for the first time and grew twice as much in 2016
reaching 20 thousand units, making remarkable
progress. The sales market of the category is expected
to high up again this year.
