aiwan's sporting goods industry experi- enced a decline in exports in 2024, with total export value reaching USD 1.728 billion, a 4.37% decrease from 2023. The primary export markets were the United States, China, and Japan. While some categories, such as water sports and billiards equipment, saw growth, others, including fitness equipment and golf supplies, faced declines. It is mainly due to high inflation, and geopolitical conflicts which have resulted in poor overall export performance. Firstly, according to the product categories, the top three export values until December 2024 are fitness equipment, golf equipment, and other outdoor equip- ment. The export value of fitness equipment is US$ 638 million, a decline of 2.67% compared to the same period in 2023. Although it is still at the top rank, it has declined for three consecutive years. Golf equipment, which ranks second, declined by 4.86%. Outdoor products, which ranks third, declined by 5.43% compared to the same period last year. Looking at the statistics, the largest export region in 2024 is still North America, accounting for 49.07% of the total export value, nearly half of the proportion. This is followed by Asia with 16.14% of total exports. When examined by country, the top three members remain the same as in 2022: the United States, China, and Japan, each with 49.07%, 9.34%, and 6.8% of total exports. However, all three countries showed negative growth in export value. According to the Taiwan Institute of Economics Research, the global economy in 2025 will continue to face many challenges, with the policies of the new U.S. president, the asynchronous monetary policies of central banks, and geopolitical conflicts such as the wars in Russia, Ukraine, and the Middle East being the most critical. These will not only affect the performance of Taiwan's exports but also influence Taiwan's domestic demand and consumer spending through the financial market and the prices of imports, which are worthy of advanced study and attention.
